Microsoft is set to increase prices for Dynamics 365 on October 1, 2024. This marks the first pricing hike for Dynamics customers in more than five years. This change will impact both new and existing customers globally.

New Dynamics 365 Pricing Details

Starting Oct. 1, Microsoft will raise prices on Dynamics 365 base licensed products. For existing customers, the pricing increase will be reflected at their next renewal date after Oct. 1.

Both cloud versions and on-premises Dynamics products will be affected. Notably, the price for Dynamics 365 Business Central will stay the same.

For US government customers, the price increase will be phased, beginning with a 10% hike on Oct. 1, and followed by a smaller increase on Oct. 1, 2025 to align with commercial pricing.

Why Is This Happening Now?

The primary driver behind this price increase is Microsoft's ongoing investment in innovation and capabilities within the Dynamics 365 suite. Over the years, Dynamics 365 has grown to include advanced AI features, improved integrations, and expanded functionalities that deliver more value to businesses. The new pricing reflects these enhancements and ensures Microsoft can continue to invest in the platform.

How to Prepare for the New Dynamics 365 Prices

  • Review Your Current Licensing: Understand your current Dynamics 365 licenses and how the price increase will affect your costs. Engage with a Microsoft licensing expert from HBS to get a clear picture.
  • Evaluate Your Usage: Assess your use of Dynamics 365 products. Are there areas where you can optimize your usage or consolidate licenses? Ensuring you're using the most cost-effective options can help mitigate the impact of the price increase.
  • New Customer? Consider Purchasing Prior to October: If you’re on the fence about adopting Dynamics 365, purchasing licenses before Oct. 1 will save you money for at least one year prior to your first renewal.
