Heartland Business Systems Appoints New Chief Information Security Officer
Heartland Business Systems (“HBS”), LLC, a Midwest leader in information technology, today announced that it has appointed Larry Boettger Chief Information Security Officer effective Sept. 18. Peter Helander, HBS’s founder and president, announced this at a team meeting.
“Larry is going to lead and strengthen our cybersecurity efforts at HBS for many years to come,” said Helander. “We selected a strong leader who will be responsible for our strategic security practice.” Continued Helander, “As our customers continue their digital transformation, ensuring that their journey is secure has never been more important. Larry’s track record of managing technology and security programs is exactly what HBS needs as we enter our next chapter.”
Larry brings over 20 years of information technology and cybersecurity consulting experience to his position as CISO at HBS. Having performed risk and vulnerability assessments as well as remediation services for regulated organizations (HIPAA, GLBA, SOX, PCI, etc.) of all sizes, Larry will lead all cybersecurity initiatives at HBS. His expertise with critical infrastructure environments is backed by security certifications that include Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and ITIL.
Most recently, Larry served as Senior Solutions Architect at VIMRO. Most of his work was helping clients prepare for PCI compliance and conducting PCI audits (Larry is a former PCI Qualified Security Assessor). Prior to joining VIMRO, Larry served as Director of Information Security and Compliance at Three Pillars Technology. He took this role after founding InfoSec Compliance Advisors – a company that conducted IT risk and security assessments and governance, disaster recovery consulting, security technology controls design, implementation and support.
“I joined HBS because I wanted to be a part of a team where possibilities were endless. Today, I am even more certain that HBS is that team,” said Larry Boettger. “Throughout the past 25 years, Peter Helander’s vision and leadership have built HBS into one of the most innovative companies in the Midwest. The opportunity to lead the next chapter in cybersecurity at HBS is humbling and exciting. I plan to deliver the same commitment to customers, partners, and employees as Peter has done.
